Been looking for a load to use for plinking. I have been buying WWB as of late but I have just started reloading. Any Idea what load would get me close to that round?

What loads have you found that work good for plinking?

For plinking with the 44 Mag the best thing to do is find some cast SWC's and a can of Unique.  Cheap to shoot and more fun than the pounding of full house 44 Mag loads.

I've been using 14 grains of Blue Dot behind 240 SWC.
Considered a moderate load by most.

I am at work, and my loads are at home, but generally I use a 240 grain Lead bullet and the load data from 44 spcl's in 44 magnum case.  Gives you about the same performace as a 45 ACP (weight & velocity), very little recoil and brass last forever.  I just sitck to the longer mag brass so I can always load them either way.  This is my plinking load I have been using forever....

ETA:  I really like the Lasercast from Oregon trails.  They will send you six as a sample if you want to try them....

I was kinda worried about using non jackeded bullets due to foweling not like 44 mag is a really clean round any way. Do you get much fouling with the Lasercast?

That is why I prefer the lasercast.  Generally at the 800-1000 FPS I am shooting at there is virtually no fouling with the lasercast.  I also shoot them in my 1911 and easily go through 500 rounds in a session and have little to no fouling.

I just ordered some rifle with GC's that I want to start using in my enfields.  I really can't say enough good things about them.

I didnt say light. I was just looking for a load that would get me close to a WWB type load.

Well that load is cetainly not light, may be a little heavy for the average persons plinking, but that is what I use it for.

Personally I like Clays for my Cowboy Action .44 mag loads.  Its a pretty fast powder so you get a touch more muzzle velocity to recoil ratio or more bang for the back on target.

You gotta look at using a lead Semi Wad Cutter to shoot with.  Plinking loads will be a lower cost per round.  Save the fire breathing ones for hunting....

+1  I buy the Oregon Trails SWC in bulk.  They're a nice billet a lead silver alloy so don't leave a heavy lead deposit like many low cost soft leads plus have the sealing rings so load real easy.

Load those in a nickel case and boy do they look sharp especially in a belt type holder.  I call it my "Lone Ranger Silver Bullet" load.

Just for the fun of it, here's a pic of my 50th Anniversary Blackhawk .44mag and its companion lever action carbine .44 mag.

The .44 mag is one of my all time favorite handgun rounds.  A full load, its a hand cannon but can be loaded to all kinds of specialty configurations from knock down power to fast follow-up shots.  Its an extremely versatile round.

What loads have you found that work good for plinking?
A 240gr LSWC, standard LPP, And about 11grs of IMR PB should do the trick.  Depending on your bullet and lube, this load may or may not lead your bore.  I use my own cast bullets sized at .430, brinnell harness of 12, they do not lead any of my 44s.  This load should "feel" like WWB.

By the sound of it this load matched with the 240grn Oregon Trail LSWC should get me to where I want to be?
