Have reloaded 5.56 for years but just got into 6.8 recently.  On Dillon 650.

Have about 100 SSA SR primed empties now and picked up several types of bullets in a deal.

Don't know which are usable with 6.8 but all are .270 so you tell me - please.

Unknown brand: 115 gr FMJ - OAL of bullet is .977 w/top of cannelature (sp?) at .536
Hornady 140 gr BTSP - OAL 1.209, cann at .652
Hornady 150 gr SST - OAL 1.372, cann at .671

Last two I would use for deer so if they are too long to feed thru the magazine can (or should!) they be loaded for single shot?  If they are too long what do you recommend for whitetail deer?

Have Datapowder 68 (would like to save this for 5.56 - no reload data for 6.8 on website) and Accurate 2230 (have seen a load for AA2230 using 110 Vmax).

Winchester WSR primers.  also have CCI SR.

Anyone with experience in 6.8SPC reloading I am looking for some loads to work up to either using the components I have listed above or whatever your pet loads are and I will get the powder/primers that are necessary.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not a pro reloader but most of my reloading has been because I bought a 6.8 Upper.

H335 and H322 are my go to powders for the 6.8

There are only a few bullets over 115 gr. that will allow for magazine length loads and powder capacity.

I use 110 gr. bullets for all of my hunting applications, Barnes TSX, Sierra Pro Hunters, Nosler Accubonds.

The Pro Hunters seem to get the best accuracy for most but I've had good results with these three bullets.

I shot one deer each with a Pro hunter and Barnes TSX. They both did a great job.

There are few websites with 6.8 specific info... 68forumsdotcom has been my go to site and I'm sure you'll find more information than you would imagine.

Pay close attention to what barrel and chamber combination you have as there are differences to be aware of.

Some will have a tendency to show pressure signs before others so be careful. I have a barrel that shows these pressure signs.

My best load so far is:   28.5 gr. H335 - 110 gr. ProHunter - OAL = 2.270" - Remington, 9.5 primer and brass
Don't Use This Load With Out Doing Your Research...Not that it is a crazy load but there are too many variables.

You'll like the 6.8 for hunting, it is awesome for deer.
