So right now I am running a load in my AR 15 using a grain under max of BLC-2 with 55gr Winchester bulk 55gr.  Barrel is 16" 1:9 Rock River Arms CAR profile (though the gun was built by me and only the barrel is RRA).  Would jumping up to the a 62 or 68 grain bullet, or switching to a new powder be your suggestion in a search to tighten up groups?  With the crazy cost of bullets and other supplies I would rather switch up one thing at a time rather than start buying a bunch of new components at once.

Bulk Win bullets SUCK.  Sorry for the slam, but uniformity in Win bulk FMJ just isn't there.

ANY match bullet will be far better.  Even Sierra thinks their FMJ bullets are inferior.

Hey, no problem with the critique.  Truth is they was a deal on them, but even when I bought them I figured I might upgrade to the Hornady 55 grainers next time which are only a little more costly.  Maybe I will try those before trying to bump up the grain weight or a different powder.

I'd try Hornady 68 match bullets with either RL15 or Varget.  You'll probably be able to cut whatever groups you are getting now in half.  Hornady match bullets are about the cheapest match bullets and shoot well.

If you don't want to change powder, I'd try a Hornady 52 match or Sierra 52 match bullet with the BLC2 if you want to use up the powder that you already have.

Good shooting.

How big are your groups now?
If they're MOA and you want better try match bull;ets.  The Hornady FMJ will very likely shoot better than the Win.  I get about 1 1/4"  100 yd groups (10 rnds) with the Hornady fmj.  If you want better than that the Sierra 55 gr. SP med vel blitz will shoot tighter.  Better than that the match bullet is the way to go.
It's like racing, how muchy ou want to pay will determine a lot.

Right now, at 25 yards (the only distance I could test at the time) it is an average of about 2 inches rested on a Caldwell lead sled (no lead on it....just like the repeatability for every shot it gives me ).  Now for a general plinking/target round from a non-match rifle I find this mediocre.  Now you can probably see why I would like to tighten things up a bit.  If I can bring groups to even just 2 MOA I would be quite happy.

I use Varget for my Uncles .223 loads (but since I load to a longer OAL for his gun they won't chamber in my rifle),so do have some of that lying around, but I bought 2 one pound bottles of BLC-2 and would like to use that up first before moving on to a new powder or cutting into my Uncles supply of Varget.

First try the Hornaday 55 gr FMJBT.

I use the Win. 55 grs for blasting and offhand practice.

A waste of time shooting the Win. 55 gr bullet for groups.

Which 62 gr bullet did you have in mind?

The SS-109 is not a match bullet, but I'm getting 2 to 2 1/2 inch ten shot groups at 100 yds.

My rifle likes BLC2 also. Also use it in 308 and 30-30.

With the 68 gr Hornaday BTHP I use Varget.

I was looking at the Hornady 62gr Hollow Points, though I would really like to stay FMJ which means the Speer is probably the first pick even if a tiny bit more expensive.

EDIT:  Oops, my bad, the Hornady HP is 60 grain, not 62.  But it is till cheaper.
