Not only should you check the chambering but also feed check.  To do this as safely as possible, remove the firing pin but leave the spring in the well.  Add 1-3 BBs so the extractor can be retained by the firing pin stop.


This should prevent most ND's.  Be careful when extracting live rounds as the ejector can set off sensitive primers.

I check each loaded round with a case gage.  



You could also make dummy rounds to function check with the gun, then just pull the bullets and load 'em again live
