I have only been loading a short while now and am following the advice of my gunsmith and my loading manuals.

AR10
Noveske 18" barrel chambered for M118LR
ARmalite 1st gen mags.  they work fine with factory ammo.

R P marked cases with a few FC mixed in with them. Cases are on first reloading from factory.
175 grain match kings
42.0 grains Varget.
OAL 2.80 (+/- .002)  I am having trouble getting the seating die to seat consistently at 2.80.some of the variation is the inconsistent lip around the HP end of bullet.

I have found a load that my gun likes and loaded up a batch of 50 this morning.  I just shot about 10 rounds and had FTF on several of them.  The bolt won't close on them completely.

I checked the chamber and it is clear of obstructions.  I fired some factory rounds and everything operated fine with them.

I FL size on a lee single stage press with RCBS dies.  I set up my sizing die this morning and adjusted it down to the ram.  I then turned it another 1/4 turn and snugged the stop ring.

did I oversize my brass by not turning the die down enough?

any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you have an adjustable case gage, you should measure a fired case to use for setting the sizer die to produce a case with about 0.0015 to 0.003 inches headspace.

Your problem crops up several times every week.  It's likely that a little lube inside the case neck will allow the sizer die's expander ball to withdraw from the case without stretching the case should out, undoing the sizing operation.

While you're measuring cases, also check the dimensions of several unfired factory loads.
