Ok I am going to load pistol but I have never done it before what do I need to do to load lead verse Copper bullets? I know lead is uselly .001 larger so does that mean I need another die to do it? I am going to be reading my reloading manuels this week to see what I need before I buy my bullets. I have the cases and primers but I just need to know about the other stuff. I have dies for 45ACP, 38spl, and 9mm. ffh |

Standard dies work just fine. Debur the case mouths and use enough bell to start bullets without shaving lead. All pistol ammo gets crimped. Revolver rounds roll or taper crimped. Auto rounds get taper crimped. Easiest way to crimp is seat bullets and crimp in separate dies. Adjust the seat/crimp die to seat only, use a Lee FCD (factory crimp die) to crimp. Buy a carbide sizing die, so you can skip the lube/delube step. |

with lead clean your seating and taper crimp die every 500 rds minimum. Leads shavings will build up and stick inside those dies, all glued together with the bullet lube. If you check all your pistol loads with a case gage which I recommend, you'll have to clean your case gage every now and then too. |
