Which of these .224 bullets is used in the MK262 cartridge? sierrabullets.com/index.cfm?section=bullets&page=rifle&brandID=1&displayAll=1 Thanks, also any info on the type and ammount of powder used would be appreciated! |

Sierra recently started making the 77hpbt MatchKing with the cannelure (bullet #1478). To order in bulk, 500 bullets, use #9378. The 77bthp with cannelure would duplicate the mk262 loaded round, but the same bullet without cannelure can be used if you don't want to crimp. The cannelure is very light on that bullet anyway. Here's some data from Sierra www.sierrabullets.com/index.cfm?section=techservice&page=xring&volume=6&issue=3 |

You can also use the Nosler Custom Competition 77bthp which is a little less expensive. The original Mod1 used Noslers while the Mod2 MK262 uses Sierra 77bthp. Here's some load data from Nosler. www.nosler.com/index.php?p=15&b=22cal&s=6 |

Things to remember copy cat reloading practices are dangerous! You need to realize that MK262 uses cases with crimp primers, and that the round was loaded to 5.56 spec with non-canister grades of powder! So, what does that all mean? You got to get out the chrono, perhaps find some TAC, and work up loads that are safe, accurate and reliable in your guns! NO FREE LUNCHES!

| Use the 1477 or the 9377 . Think the difference is one has a longer bearing surface . You can also use the Berger 224075V which is just as good if not better than the Sierra . My best loads are with Berger as there is much more bearing surface compared to Sierra . I will NEVER use a bullet that needs to be crimped for this kind of load . Make sure your chamber is right for these bullets as getting the bullet into the lands and grooves creates more accurate ammo . The load for my bolt guns will sometimes unseat the bullet when removing a round from the chamber so I never chamber unless I am firing , I get under 1/4 inch from these guns . |

If you are duping M262 you use a crimped bullet. You can get them from Sierra although Nosler told me that will make another run soon. 24.5 grains of Varget in Lake City brass that is trimmed and a BR primer driving a crimped 77grain pill should have you there. I couldn't quite get there with TAC although I did get within 50 fps. I also got there with N540 but that stuff is pretty expensive. |
What's this? Thank you for your help |

Bench Rest primer |
Because you're interested in hot loads and need a tough primer. |
More specifically, one with a thick cup. They hold up better when things get warm. |
