I tried the email to ATI earlier this week with no success.

Earlier this year I purchased a GSG-5PK with off of Gunbroker.  It came with the HK pins, and it was used, so that should have been a clue to me...

Anyway, I Form 1'd it and took it apart to send to Orion Arms.  Then it became glaringly clear that it had been rode hard and put away wet.  I spent a day cleaning and lubing it.  It appears that part of the breach block surrounding the extractor cut has a small piece (caliper measures 2.7 or so mm) chipped out of it.  Not seeing cases bulging or ruptured.  Barrel appears full diameter, and I see no crack in the chamber end.  Trouble is the suppressor will increase dwell time and chamber pressure.  Firing pin spring was cut, the firing pin spring detent was missing, and it came with a vertical foregrip, rather than the standard.

Anyway, I took it out and shot it, and at 50 yards had a hard time keeping it on a sihlouette target.  Right now it about a 16-20 MOA SBR.  Yes it is an SBR, but I am wondering....Is this all the accuracy I can get out of it?

The barrel tensioning nut appears to have been greased.  I don't see how with the vibration of shooting it will stay in place.  Is there a trick to tensioning the barrel to get the most accuracy?  Shouldn't it be locktited instead of greased?  I have sent it Bill Springfield for a trigger job, and and while took alot of slop out of the trigger, I want an accurate shooter.  I have a firelapping kit, but if the barrel is on its way out, I may want to save that, rather than use a $30 fire lapping kit to try to add accuracy to a barrel that is swirling down the drain.  Any other accurizing tricks?

Pics are forthcoming when my SWARFWORKS adapter gets here, and my Form 4 gets approved on my hearing protectinon.

thanks,

pat

Yes you should at a min. use blue loctite on that barrel nut! those come loose things go badd the barrel should sit flush in the breach block area! Grease I don't understand what idiot would do this! The other screws that come loose is on top of the bolt carrier/bolt those littlle ones loctite them but you need to cleen and degrease the holes they are in firsl with action blaster or a q-tip and brake cleaner to make sure the loctite will set correctly. I used blue loctite on every screw and nut I could get it on. As for accuracy I think once you tighten that nut you will need to try and verify if the barrel is indeed in its correct position. this I woul call ati and talk to them. before that thoug once you have tightened it try shoting again and see if your groups have any consistancy . if not talk to ati about a new barrel for it cause yours may be FUBAR
