Hi,
The STG-44 is still in development. ATI is licensed to import the test gun to ATF for import approval and now we're just waiting for GSG to finish up the functional proto for ATF review. They're very close but we don't have any more in regards to the timing from there. We're still with in the window though of being able to have the STG available around Shot Show 2012 which has always been the announced time. So it is still possible, but new products being created from the ground up take time to develop, so there's never an official guarantee. Its coming along well though and hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be sending one into ATF for eval. One of the parts still being developed is the magazine. We don't know what the hi-cap is actually going to be yet, likely between 30 & 40 rounds though. There will be a 10 rounder as well, so all restricted states can have one but GSG will not be making a 15 rounder. The reason for this is the same reason why we never went forward with the 15 round magazine after getting a few hundred from them. Because the body is slightly different it requires its own production run and material purchase, so GSG usually wants us to buy several thousand at once, which is expensive. It took us almost 2 years to sell the few hundred 15 round GSG-5(22) mags and maintaining a reasonable turn around on inventory is always a financial priority. So, unfortunately, as only 1 state has a 15 round capacity, the investment and time and space occupied in our warehouse outweigh the value of manufacturing one specific cap for NJ. Sorry. |
| The plan on the MP-40 is to give it a full 16 1/4" BBL with a WW2 Nazi style fake suppressor shroud over the BBL, just like the 522 rifle. We'll have shorter BBLs available for purchase separate through the service center here once you have a form 1. This is all tentative though, the MP-40 will not be going into development until after full production on the STG-44 is under way, so its way way too early to say how anything with it is going to be for sure. MP-40 is slated for release about 8 months after the STG starts to ship, but it could be farther out than that even. All depends on how R&D goes once it gets under way. |
