What would a One Year Anniversary edition GSG-5 be worth?
It was a range/rental gun, no idea how many rounds are through it. The finish is chipped in places on the receivers and has a couple spots that were "touched up" with a off-color gray paint. The front sight post was missing, and the charging handle/knob was broken off, but have since been replaced with new parts from ATI. I was able to test it out today and put 450+ rounds through it. Super accurate. Had some light primer strikes, a few stovepipes and some rounds that just weren't feeding due to being tilted to far forward in the mag. So typical .22 issues, I'd say. Besides that, some times the bolt would hold open on the last shot, most of the time it would not... What would you expect to pay for this rifle? Thanks, MF |

Hey MF
Some of those issues scare me ?? tough call on used price ? $250 maybe.....as replacement parts from ATI are reasonably inexpensive. But, I'm sure you know, a new one can be had for $375 +/- here localy. My brother just had USFA match Big 5's $399 price on an SD 522 version (Big 5 was out) I had my GSG sbr on our recent B/R.....I totally forgot is was under my back seat. You could of used it all night, and spent maybe $20 in ammo |

What about the bolt hold open on the last shot? It's supposed to stay open, yeah? |

Thanks, MF This scares me the most This prob usually requires the "send it to ATI for the fireing pin mod", but, could be the ammo too? The rest of the probs sound like dirty mags and parts, and not the right ammo.......... The few people that I know that have GSGs, old or new, have never had any of those problems. So hearing about them, makes me weary. But hey, if its a good deal? |

Before shooting it, I checked the bore for obstructions, ran some Slip2000 through it and a few drops right into the ejection port w/ the bolt back. |
| sounds like it is well used. When you see broken charging handles and the like makes me think it has not been well cared for. Even for $250.00 I would walk. When you can find a new one or a much nicer used one for a bit more $. There are a lot of these rifles around so it's not like it's rare. Not sure, but I don't think being an anniversary edition really adds any thing especially one in the shape you described. I really enjoy the ones I have and am very excited for the STG 44 they have coming out. Just my .02 worth. |

If I can get it for a song, will ATI fix anything internal that may need fixing? Would they charge for servicing it? If you end up getting it....for a song? And there is repair needs, all you need is the parts. I've had mine apart down to the last spring, and they're not as complicated as you might think. So replacing parts is easy. I'd even help ya, since yer a neighbor and such...lol Unless, you need a rivited extractor or fireing pin mod, in which ATI's service is exceptional ! Not sure about FP mod, but I'm pretty sure the rivet upgrade is free. ( i have yet to do mine, cuz it still runs flawlessly) |

Sounds like you are really wanting this rifle, cool. Before you jump remember there are options, like getting a newer or less abused unit. whatever you do best of luck, it is a really cool platform. If it was nothing but trouble yesterday when I shot it, I wouldn't care about it. But since it wasn't anything that bugged me, and if the price is right, then I have a cool cheap gun and a project. |
| there's nothing complex about these guns. Most everything is very simple. Since it's been a range rental gun, I would disassemble it completely. Clean all the parts. Install a screw kit before you break out the left handed bits trying to get one off. Install HK pushpin kit. Front sight post. and then use it until you find stuff you want to mod. I love mine. for $250 I'd take it because I could fix anything that goes wrong with it. Also remember the finish on these GSG's is weird. Certain cleaners will take it right off. Especially the silver powdercoated anniversary ones. Get it. FIx it. Can't loose any real money with it so won't hurt. Makes a fun plinker/squirrel killer. |
