I talked with ATI customer service today and got some info. My GSG-5 Ser # A3201xx is a second gen, plus the info from this sight helped me also. Mine is an '09 issue. The fellow from ATI said they came out with Gen 2 because of fixing some of the bugs in the first gen. I neglected to ask him what they were. Any of you super knowledgable folks know what the updates were? Thanks for the help. John

Hi, John! Welcome to AR15.com! Most of the changes that I saw between Gen1 and Gen2 were external. You can see in the below pic that the front of the cocking tube changed, as did the shape of the charging handle and front sling mount.  I cannot recall what other changes were made. Haven't had my gun in over a year...but I think those were pretty much it. Also later on they had to change the fake suppressor on the gun due to an idiotic ATF ruling, and then after the HK lawsuit, they had to change several components, including the sights, lower receiver and charging handle shape... |
