I think I am ready to pick up a GSG, but it seems like there are so many negative topics here on the forums. Is this because the knowledge base here is such that problems are solved or because there are that many issues??  I don't know anyone with them so I just read and hear rumors, but I don't want to buy a new gun that I'm sending off to get fixed and I'll be honest my gun smithing abilities are not real good so I need reliable guns that function.  It seems like it'd be a fun gun for the gun range and walking around on the farm. So basically what am i getting with a NIB 522 SD???    Thanks

I have shot the Pee-Water out of mine.  No problems ever.  .22lr is dirty so you DO have to clean it.  I SBR'd mine and bought a TAC-65 can for it.  I love the thing.  Buy one and enjoy it.

It IS a fun-gun at the range. Keep it clean and you'll be a happy camper with an uber-cool carbine.

If you do hit some shizz, the knowledge base here is huge and ATI cust svc is AWESOME.

I took my new 522 SD out last week for the first time.  I fired 200 rounds with zero problems.  I was also happy with the accuracy.  Overall it's a real fun range gun especially for my kids...

Thanks for the info.....the local shop has a 522 SD for $450. Seems a little high compared to what I see online....any thoughts??

They are fun to shoot but if i could do it all over again i would not of purchased one.    The internal parts are made of cheap metal and as far as i know there are no plans to beef up the internals of this gun.   I just dont see this gun lasting as long as other less expensive guns.  Even if it did last 5-10 years and something breaks would you be able to get parts?   If you do decide to purchase one, do all the mods you can to beef it up.. screw kit, cocking tube buffer, ect....  Keep it clean and check the screws often.

I have a Gen1 carbine with over 30k through it (both unsuppressed and suppressed).  I had to send it in a while back for the extractor rivet upgrade & they replaced the barrel (the screw came loose and I didnt know it).  Since then I haven't had any issues (It was sent in around 20k round count).

Look for a Dunhams near you. They've been selling GSGs (all versions) for under $400.00 for months.

I'm a little late here, but I finally got to shoot my newly purchased GSG-522. Shot ~520 rounds with about 12 bullets getting jammed. Not sure why? Oh, and purchased my GSG-522 for $369 from a local dealer here. Only thing I hate is the stupid cheap looking handguard but no way I'm going to spend $100 on a decent looking one.

Use CCI mini mags or Federal HP, both these brands work great and just keep it oiled and clean.  Very fun to shoot.

I've run nothing but CCI stingers through mine. Off hand with a PA micro red dot is a lot of fun.

The only issues I have had were when running suppressed it is mag sensitive so any monopodding or pressure on the mag causes stove pipes. I assume it's from the additional backpressure and harsher extraction.

I just got rid of mine, In my opinion get a 10/22 way better gun, cool factor no.. But way better. my Gsg was junk from day one. Day one handguard broke, FTF, FTE, soft primer hits that was with Federal bulk, Made the change to Cci made it better but still. Amout a month later i noticed a crack in the chamber right were the extractor sits, So back to Rochetser Ny she went, got the gun backworked great for about two mags, then the soft primer strikes were back.

My 2 cents, dont buy one, but then again everyone else ive every talk too loves theirs and dont have problems. Lemons Law. My Gsg turned into a CMMG gas piston Upper Still lost a little money on her

Yea, I was using Winchester 555. I'll use the Federal from Walmart next time. I'm hoping that's what the problem is. :P

I saw that guard, not a fan of it though. Thinking of getting an airsoft guard and rigging it on somehow. HAHA.
