Are the new GSG -5 any good? I was thinking of getting one for awhile now. I heard the screws will pop out after shooting a few hundreds round, I heard that it break easily, I heard it will blow up. So is any of this true? I mostly want it for general plinking and marksmanship practices for my two young bros.
I already have a few AK, but it getting expensive to shoot! |
| Got mine because it was the tacticool tool to get my son interested in shooting as a hobby. No Sig or MP15-22 at the time, and the AR 22s were out of the price ranges. I had one bad experience with it not long after I got it. It Kaboomed oob and after about 1k or so rounds. Sent it to ATI and they go a new barrel in it. No problems at all since, easily another 1.5k to 2k rounds since. For the price I have been more than satisfied with it not to mention the ATI customer service was great when there was an issue. |

I originally bought a Gen 1 carbine when they first arrived to the US a few years ago for plinking, introducing new shooters to the sport & rabbit/varmint hunting.
I liked it so much I bought a Gen 2 carbine when they started coming in. Then I realized I didn't need 2 of them and sold one. Then I bought a PK to SBR.... liked it so much I SBR'd the Gen 1 carbine. So why? Originally as a plinking/hunting gun. Then it turned into the "bit by the NFA bug" motivation. Finally it has morphed into it's current purpose - a training weapon for 3 gun. I run a 9mm HK MP5SD clone, and it's cheaper to shoot 22LR when I'm practicing drills than 9mm. Still gets used quite a bit for rabbit/varmint purposes, and is quite accurate. I've had several kills outside 100 yards without too much trouble, most of them are 25-75 yards. Been a great little gun for me. Had some malfunction issues - sent it to ATI - who returned it to me in like new condition performing flawlessly. Edit: Visual representation always spices up life a bit
