Will the retractable stock scratch/remove finish on the side of the gun? Im talking about the grooves that the stock (arms) ride in.
Which brand of retractable stock works/looks the best? I know of 2... classic army and gsg. |

| Over time and extended use it will wear the paint in the stock channels. Fact of life, makes it look used and tacticool. The main thing - at least for me is that it doesn't loosen over time and the fit is still stiff. It's not as rock solid as the fixed stock, but it locks up fine for my uses (bunnies). |

Thought I'd chime in though slightly beside the point of your question. I have a GSG carbine and went with the retractable stock. It will wear a bit but I didn't get any major scratches in the month I had it on.
What I did get was a pretty marginal shooting experience caused by the relative length of the retract versus the original stock and the two-boom design. Poor (non-existent) cheek weld and bad form and it showed in the accuracy of my groups at 75 feet. I just went with a folder from HK Parts (https://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/GSG-5-Folding-Stock-B-T-Style-130p786.htm) and this thing is much better. When folded down, it's actually shorter than the collapsible and when extended (though a bit wider), it is rock solid when extended and long enough for my arms and site picture. Generally a better solution in my humble opinion. The degree of tacticool is something you'll have to decide yourself but it makes for a better platform. Matt |
