II was shooting my GSG-5 SD at the range yesterday. Previously, I've put around 400 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag/Federal Bulk through it with minimal problems, only the occasional "stovepipe" with the CCI.
After putting around 400 more rounds through it yesterday, I put in a fresh mag. Safety off. Trigger won't budge. Clear weapon. Reload mag, charge again. Same thing, the trigger won't move. I stripped the gun, and examined the lower receiver. Something was rattling inside. I manipulated the magazine safety and tried to drop the hammer. No go. After trying over and over, the hammer finally drops. I've never taken the trigger group out, so I didn't. Whatever was rattling inside seemed to be gone... After a quick function check, I loaded up a fresh magazine, and dumped a magazine with no failures. What could have been the cause of this problem? |
| Gremlins? It sounds like a foreign object lockup. Check the bolt group, reciever for any missing parts or pieces that may have fallen into the trigger group. Look for missing screw heads, or springs (BHO spring comes to mind), or possibly casting pieces. Other than that, my quess would be Gremlins. |
