Alright boys, so I was in the gun store today looking at some revolvers, when the GSG SD caught my eye..  Its 495, and I really love the look and feel of it.  I was curious what the story is with these?  Are they reliable?  Im assuming its accurate, im just looking for a nice fun plinker 22 that looks awesome, and after browsing the picture thread, this thing looks sick!

Couple questions I had was..

The fake silencer, some people have taken that off and put on a small flash supressor.  Can anyone do that, or is that considered a SBR and I would need a permit for it?

Is 495 a proper price for it, and how long will these things be around for?  Not sure if I should grab it asap or wait a month for it?

Thanks for ANY help that is offered, as im pretty new to a gun like this.

GRAB IT NOW AND STOP READING!
495 is a good price
Jan 31st. is the last day they will be technically sold
You cannot remove the fake can on a SD and not have it be a SBR(below 16"= FED time)

Ok well whats this thing then?  Is this an SBR?

I WANT that front grip setup, but I have 0 idea what it is.

Also, the other one he has there is the GSG-5, not the SD.  Does the fake supressor come off that one and can be made to look like the picture above this?

That sir IS AN SBR...anything with less than a 16 incher is considered an SBR if it has a stock or a VFG. Looks frickin awesome, but can cost you a buttload of $$$ and time if you dont get da papers get da papers (goodfellas) eg...tax stamp, NFA stuff.

Ahh mr Jimmy Twotimes, thanks!

Ok, so does anyone know what forgrip that is?  Im thinking of getting that foregrip with the handle, on the normal GSG-5 and just leaving the fake surpressor.

Does the fake supressor on the GSG-5 unscrew?  I guess on the SD it doesent.

That sweeeet little SBR is mine.  It started life as the GSG-5PK (the smallest pistol) and then I SBR'd it on a Form1.  That particular handguard is a K-Grip and fits the 5PK model "only".  You can put a railed handguard on a regular GSG5 and add any vert grip you like without any NFA paperwork.  I would not recomend taking the fake suppressor off a GSG5.  If you do you will end up with a really long, silver, pencil barrel which will have zero protection from dings and dents.  The suppressor on mine is real.  It is an all titanium Thunderbeast. Very light at only 3 oz. but strong enough to handle full auto fire as well as 22WMR and 5.7x28 rounds.

A couple more pictures for your viewing pleasure,

Ok he had the pistol version that you started with as well.  Now what would i have to do to go from a pistol version like yours, to add a stock to it?  Is there paperwork involved in doing that as well?
11/19/2009 6:32:44 PM EDT
[#7]
To add a stock and/or vert grip to the PK pistol you just fill out a Form1 in duplicate, get two sets of fingerprint cards, fill out the citizenship form, attach passport photo's and get your local chief of law enforcement to sign your forms and send all including a check for $200 to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and then wait until your stamped form comes back.  Once you have the form in hand you can add the stock and vert grip.

If you run your NFA items through an LLC like I do or a Corp or Trust you can skip the fingerprints, pictures and CLEO signoff.  Makes it real easy.  The wait time can take anywhere from one to six months or more.  Since I do mine on an LLC the turnaround times have been very quick.  I just got back a Form1 for an SBR in 9 weeks and a Form4 for a suppressor in 6 weeks.

Hmm, now im not sure which one to get.

Honestly, I dont want to go through all that jazz, so I think I may just get the SD since its got the longer barrel which im assuming for a 100 yard range, would help quite a bit with accurassy no?

Now im confused what is this?  It looks like it was the GSG-5 then had the barrel cut off and a flash supressor installed and the stock removed?  Is that one considered a SBR?

this one is a pistol............all that fed paperwork you see for the PK version (smaller pistol) would be the same for this one too (bigger pistol)

get the SD, its cool !!!

this is a SBR'd pistol (upper gun)

After looking through a TON of those pictures on the picture thread, I think this is the best plan.  Grab a GSG-5 and then do this exactly to it, accept with a red dot on top..

Now the question is this.  What is the exact foregrip and handle hes using?  I want that exact setup for teh rails and whatnot, and then hes just using this stock right?

Do you guys think if I grab the GSG its going to need to have the firing pin altered or did they fix that with the new models for the light hits?  Also, same with that part that has to be rivited...

Also, im buying the delrin buffer, new screw kit, and the HK pins for it before I even use it that way I have no problems with that stuff...

Extractor rivet is GTG, as well as the firing pin....sometimes when they are brand new it might have a cpl. but once you put a few down the tube its fine.

Form 1's, both are short barreled rifles and are properly NFA registered.

I am looking into an engraver who has been in business for almost 30 years and I will see what he can do as far as placement of the engraving.
