I sold my GSG-5L Carbine Friday. With the uncertainty of the gun in 2010, I didn't wish to be left hanging. I look forward to the new models GSG offers in the future & hope to be a customer once again.

A shout out to Chris for excellent CS on a warranty issue!

ditto.......the cpl. rm's ive owned were by far the fastest depreciating hobby items ive ever owned.

esp. one like the gsg5 that will in 10 yrs for sure be a gun that makes you either say "i told you so" or " shut up man, i know".....i know which class im in!

This is a repeat of the HK SP89 that I didn't buy many years ago. I learned from experience.

I'm not selling mine.  I love shooting it.  I think ATI will be able to service it for a good while to come.  If not,  I also bought a titanium SD to leave in the box just to have years (decades) down the road as a shooter, not as a collectable.   They're just too fun.  Everyone I've let shoot mine, wants one.

I go out there to vegas twice a yr now for about 7-8 yrs to simple dick around so i would make 1 of the trips in Jan. to SHOT in a sec. however i have in the past been to the magic clothing show several times and a few off price shows at the sands expo center and never once did they let the public into them, industry professionals and retailer buyers only.

Am I missing something?  Where is the GSG going?

I will probably keep my GSG-5 unless somebody offers a straight across trade for a Kimber 1911.

Yes, the GSG model as we now know it is going bye-bye. This is due to the settlement with H&K over their lawsuit. ATI has a thread going on about it & how they can't comment on new models until the Shot Show hits. They have stated that parts & support won't be an issue on already purchased models & I believe them.

I also traded in my Buckmark & Mosquito as well, so it wasn't just my GSG going.

I say fail.  You obviously learned nothing if you think the GSG going away is somehow a repeat of the SP89.

Lol...im not sure how you cannot make the connection....just cause a sp89 now is close to 4k, right before they stopped importing they were price reasonable just like the GSG5.  Lets just take the PK model vs. the sp89... both guns were coveted before they stopped sales, secondly both are from germany and lastly if im not mistaken doesnt the PK mirror the SP89 almost down to the tee.

Most understand what makes a gun shoot up in value..........customers opinion, and most importantly...Scarcity!!!!  I'm a gambling man i will take the bet with anyone that the org. marked GSG5 and all variants starting in prob. 5 to 10 yrs will bottom out at 1k to $1200 and will only gain value, but i really believe within these first 5yrs or so we will see a huge jump...maybe even sooner(Jan 31st)

I'll take that bet for an internet milkshake. History is long littered with guns that were/are "scarce" & haven't jumped hugely in value. Among them are the Bren 10, the Widley's, Double Eagle 1911, Colt 2000 & others. It isn't the scarcity or the availability of said weapon that makes it jump as much as its' level of quality, IMO.

Of course, the fun thing about gun collecting speculation is to see what happens.

I will say i bet our bet will be heavily influenced one way or the other after shot show.....1 scenario is Hk puts out there .22mp5 series and they are like colt umerx or however you say that  crap name all the while ATI/GSGs new offering be significantly diff. the org. GSG5s.....PAY ME MY VANILLA PAL!

Second scenario.....hk comes out with a badass .22mp5 OR and not mutually exclusive ATI/GSGs new "whatever" mimics so closely the org GSGs that they would be no real perks or collector points between the two.......I WILL JUST SEND YOU A DAMN GIFT CERTIFICATE TO MC'D's

I'm just going to continue to shoot the piss out of mine until I break something. Then I'll get it fixed, and continue doing the same. The point at which it is no longer fixable, I'm going to make it into an uber cool desk lamp for my man cave. The GSG is/was an awesome rifle. It filled a niche for those of us that dig mp-5 style looks and ergos, but can't have one for legal or financial reasons.
Yes it had a few bumps and benefited from some upgrades such as those provided by our good friend RRAGES. In the end, it's one hell of a fun gun to shoot, own, and show your buddies at the range.  For me, that's what it's all about. FUN!!

ATI C/S is something other importers and manufacturers should try to emulate. Kudos guys!

Anxiously awaiting the new ATI weapons of 2010, and also hoping and praying HK  turns out a decent product. I love HK even though they hate me. What can I say, I'm German.

Sucks the Germans are such dank engineers......As long as i live and with a good luck on my side, i wont ever own anything other than a m3.  When i got my first one in college i realized the beauty of minimalistic engineering that the germans apply and the mp5/ gsg5 is a great example of it.

Hell, the by far best wine opener i own is made in germany and also uses that unspoken less cluttered way of engineering that americans so often fail to see.

I went the opposite direction.  As soon as I heard about the court case ending.... I bought a 5pk post haste.  It will be sbrd soon, and then I'll folding stock/vfg/3lug it for suppressed use.  They'll support it, and I've been happy with my GSG-5 rifle model.
