| After reading about and finger banging various GSG-5's, I have decided to take the plunge. As I understand it, the upper is made of zinc. I have a Walther P22 and have not fired enough rounds to notice any of the problems with the zinc construction that people on various forums complain of. What are your round counts and has anyone had any problems that can be attributed to the metal used in the construction? How may rounds is the expected life expectancy of the weapon? I am excited to get my hands on one to mod and shoot the shit out of. Just curious about the metal. |

Although I cannot really answer that question since my rifle still has less than 1000 rounds through it, I have seen a post on here from someone that had 35,000 rounds through it before the bolt cover cracked. The way that the receiver is designed the bolt is encased in an assembly that is put into the receiver so there is very little moving parts that meet the receiver. I would highly doubt that you would wear out the receiver. This is just some observations I have made and I am no expert on it. I would definitely read as much on this forum as you can, it will give you some good insight on troubleshooting and modifications that makes it a wonderful experience. I can say that I haven't had this much fun shooting since I was a kid!

my wlather P22 has about 19,000 rounds through it and it works just as well as the day i bought it with no visible problems. there IS wear on the slide lock notch so that it only activates abotu half of the time. this is hte most common problem i knew of.
my GSG5P has about 5k on it now and its just the same as when it was new. SW |
