Hello gents,
Have a question please . . . I really like the looks of the ICS lower posted in the modification sticky. Shows the installer routing out the area inside the receiver so the serial number plate can drop into place. Question is – could one just cut out the area in the receiver for the serial number plate, instead of trying to route it out on the inside of the receiver only ? ? Has anyone tried this ? ? Is this making any sense ? ? ?
Thanks ! ! ! |

Thanks ! ! ! I'm sorry...what? I've done this mod, and don't understand what you're asking. There are good pictures of the serial number area here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=41&t=285139 |

I did the mod last night, takes a little patience and feels great, will be able to shoot it when I get the other side of the reciver back from the engraver. Is this what you mean? http://davidhedrick.net/web/sef.JPG Nicely done! Very professional looking. Dremel? |

Used a razorblade to remove the ribs in the center. Simple but it worked. ETA: Harbor freight files. |

I used a wood chisel for the ribs, and coincidently, I used HF files on my serial number cut-out also, but my front edge got a bit ragged. Yours looks like it was made that way. |

There are couple of small imperfections on it when you look at it really close, but you have to look for them. It doesn't bother me much, I am happy with the result. Just wish the receiver was done so I can put it together with the new lower and shoot it! Those weren't yellow handled files were they? |
