I was just about to order a flattop brass catcher from E&L.
Do you know if the new barrel shroud screws on like the original
or do you have to modify the barrel

The shroud assembly doesn't screw on, it snaps on. The only modification needed is a shorter screw that secures the barrel and it is provided with the kit. Very simple installation.

I wonder why anyone hasnt swapped the parts from a SD titanium to a carbine yet? I guess it would cost some money but you could always use another GSG!

It snaps on. I like mine. Feels plasticy but looks prettty badass...
