| Hi, i have a Gsg-5p that i would like to make a rifle and put a stock on without paying a SBR tax. Would be legal to permanetly attach a thread adapter with silver solder to a GSG-5p and permanently attach a Muzzle brake/ Fake suppressor to the thread adapter to bring the barrel length to 16 inches so that it is legally a rifle? I didn't know if it would be legal because the thread adapter does not directly attach to the barrel. Thank you |

Hi, i have a Gsg-5p that i would like to make a rifle and put a stock on without paying a SBR tax. You just said "I would like to make this an SBR without paying the tax". That is not possible. YOu take your pistol and put a stock on it.... you NEED to follow the law and apply for the SBR tax like everyone else.... or go to jail. |
| I would like to covert it to a rifle, but i would like to know if it would be legal to permanently attach the muzzle brake so that the barrel length is 16''. Im not interested in making it a SBR but i would like to know if a permanently attached the muzzle brake would be legal before i do it and learn that it's not and legal, and i accidentally make it a SBR. |

Good question. I HAVE seen rifles with permanently attached (welded) ends on them to comply with the length requirement.... but I don't know the proecess.
If you DO convert a PISTOL to a RIFLE..... doesn't the same process apply? Isn't it $200 and all the fingerprints and checks to go to a rifle? Might as well SBR if so. |

no only if you sbr. if you make a 16inch riffle there is no need to do a form 1.
