Range Report = Happy….sorta So I took my new GSG-5 to our local outdoor range today. I arrive a little early to shoot the breeze with the regulars/friends. So, I set up my bench and shoot-n-c targets, 1 at 18 yards and 1 at 50 yards according to my rangefinder. Nine o’clock hits and we’re good to go hot. I load my 3 – 10 round mags (California you know) with CCI Mini-mags 40gr RN. I insert the 1st mag and decided to do a rifle function check. I aim at the dirt berm 60 yards away and fire from the waist – gangsta style. Perfect, so far so good. Now it’s time to sight it in bench rested. I insert the 2nd mag and decide to use the 1st rear aperture (first click clockwise). I aim at the target, 18 yards away. Damn! First four shots were ¾” inch off of the bullseye on either side. I’m lovin’ it. I wanted to take pics but I forgot my camera phone. I continue to fire 2 more mags and………freakin RAIN! Big, strong rain! Who knew it rained in sunny SoCal? I had to pack up because it was gusty even though we had some rudimentary roofing. I didn’t even get to shoot 50 yards nor sight my Walther red/green dot sight. Next Sunday couldn’t come any faster. |
