I had the opportunity to shoot my GSG-5 for the first time today. I fired:
550 Federal Value Pack 40 CCI Stingers 100 CCI Mini Mag HP 20 Remington Golden Bullet 100 Winchester Super X 25 yards seated. 810 rounds total and 2 FTE’s which happened toward the end of the range session, which I will say is a result of a dirty rifle. I sighted in with the Federals. The iron sights only took 10 rounds to get on target. I used the lowest aperture and was on target right away. No windage adjustment was required. The Bushnell Holosight was a different story. I couldn’t even find the paper at first, when I did I turned the adjustment screws the wrong way a time or two. When I finally got the Bushnell on target, it was just like my Eotechs. The bullet hit wherever the red dot was. I love those things. I was very pleased with the functioning of the gun. Rapid fire was not a problem and that was where I was expecting trouble. Since I sighted in with the Federals, they were the most accurate. The CCI’s POI was just a hair to the right of where I was aiming, which was easily corrected for. Federals will be my main ammo for this gun, so I won’t need to rezero. The Remington’s were the least accurate. They also had an odd smell which I didn’t care for. I bought them a while back, because that is what I use in my Glock .22 conversion. Before I took the gun out, I did the screw mod. I used the nuts that were included in the kit. When I disassembled the gun, ALL the screws were loose. Fortunately none of the bolts or nuts were lost. I used blue loctite and tightened everything back up. I did notice the seams on the mags split a little bit when it was fully loaded. The 22 round mags would all take 24 rounds with no problem. I have six mags at this time. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. This is a fun little gun. It’s tedious to clean, but I suspect I’ll get faster at it the more I shoot.
