I'm planning on getting a can for the gsg but don't want to keep buying Remington subs that are $5.50 for a box/100...
So if I SBR it will the barrel still be long enough to make the bulk stuff from walmart (1260fps) still be supersonic?
Is there anything else I can do to make it subsonic? Is their any way to port the barrel or anything or do I not have a choice but get the Rem subs?
Is there cheaper ammo that subsonic online somewhere?

Pretty much the only safe way I think would either be to buy SubSonics, or to reload your own...modifying your gun itself to do it could be quite dangerous...

You spend $500-1000 for an SBR'd GSG and want to go cheap on the ammo?
I ran CCI subsonics through mine once, ate em up like it was born to it.

i don't own a gsg, but i do know that if your barrel is less than 5-6" most ammo will remain subsonic unless it's loaded really hot.

I run Federal bulk pack thru my SIG Mosquito with can, Aquila SubSonic in my Savage Mark II with can and CCI Standard Velocity in my 10/22 with can as the CCI standard velocity is 20fps faster than the Remington Subsonic which is crap as far as accuracy goes.

WIth my PK once I get the adapter, I plan on running the Federal bulk pack thru, so I wouldn't worry that much.

I agree, although I would say that 4.5" is the maximum barrel length to reliably keep most non-subsonic ammo from producing the ballistic crack (< 1100 fps.)

Hypervelocity ammo such as Velocitors and Stingers will "crack" out of my suppressed Ruger MK II pistol (4.5" barrel with muzzle can.)

You could port the barrel (as with the MP5SD) to make any non-hypervelocity round subsonic, but then you'd need an integral suppressor to cover the entire barrel.

Yeah that was my best choice but then I realized that the hole would no longer make it silenced after I read that... I feel stupid, how obvious.

Seems like my only choice is to try and get standard velocity ammo online. Best place?

EDIT: While I'm asking questions, why don't I have the option to change my avatar or get notifications of replies like other forums have?

well, i say 5-6" because my M16 upper is somewhere in there and the only time it cracks is on really cold days. Same with my 3.5" (or whatever) p22 with a can on it.

you'll probably need to get a gsg-5pk and make it into a sbr, as it already has a short enough barrel to make standard velocity ammo subsonic. My PK is alot of fun to shoot with my suppressor, but I'll have to do the paperwork before I can put a stock on it.

Alright, thanks everyone.
