This rifle has a drop safety, a magazine safety and a firing pin return spring - none of which is necessary on a 22. Marlin has sold 11 million model 60's with no firing pin return spring. Why does this rifle need one?

Because some places like California require all the redundant safeties. It's for the children or some crap like that.

I'm just amazed at how many gripe about how complex this rifle is when at least half the complexity is redundant safeties. I love mine and won't even remove the magazine safety. Just seeing what I could stir up among the "too many parts" guys.
