I dont post alot, I do read just about everything in this forum (GSG).

It seems to me that the fed tax covers just the supressor, not the gun its on?
So on that note, can a suppressor be made to work with several calibers, assuming all the guns have the same attatchment system?   5.56/.223/.22/.204 all very close in diameter.  Or are all supressors caliber specific???

If your GSG5 has a barrel shorter than 16" and has a stock (Short Barreled Rifle) that is 1 stamp.

If you have a detachable suppressor, that's another stamp.

If you register your shroud, and port your barrel, and the shroud is made so that it cannot be taken off, that's a one stamp gun.

As for multi-calibers, a 5.56x45 suppressor may be used with a 22lr. but you CANNOT use a 22lr. can on a 5.56x45 rifle.  The pressure is about 100 times more and it will burst your can body.

High-pressure can may be used with a low-pressure round, but a low-pressure can cannot be used with a high-pressure round.

Well it could be, once.

Pretty much caliber specific.

You can use a larger bore can on a smaller bore rifle, with a bit of loss of noise reduction.  For instance, I bought a .308 can that will see use on a .308 bolt, 300 whisper and a 223 uppers on an AR.

You don't want to use a 223 can with 22lr because of leading issues.

The Spectre is rated for 22lr and 5.7 but a 223 would have too much pressure. (though I have heard of it being done)

I was thinking of buying a supressor for my AR (.223) and was hopeing it would work on my GSG 5p (soon to be SBR) too...??    I dont really care if an AR supressor is too big or heavy for the GSG, just as long as it attatches and kinda works.

–– Is there an atatchment style that would work with both guns?

––What is leading issues?? and does that put the "no can do" on this whole idea?

And just so everyone knows,  All you regulars in this forum who answer all our questions, have more knowledge than all the gun shops in my whole area put together!!
You guys know who you are!

Thanks

I use a AAC Omni on both.  It uses a standard birdcage flashhider as it's mount.  It takes seconds to swap from my AR to the GSG.  An as a plus the "mount (A1 or A2)" is only a couple of bucks and found almsot everywhere.  That and several places are making GSG to 1/2x28 thread adapters.  Was a pretty easy sell for me.  I think you could probably do the same thing with the HALO as well.  Here's mine

Well, my advice is worth exactly what you're paying for it...............

I only own one suppressor so far & that's for my .22 Mosquito. I asked similiar questions to the shop owner where I bought mine & he equated putting a .223 can on a .22LR akin to putting a 4cyl engine in a Ford F-350 truck. It will work a little bit but not too much.

As I understand it, the baffles are engineered to be caliber & energy specific. Obviously a .22LR is no where near the energy of a .223, so I just don't see how it would work, IMO.

My .o2

I use an AAC M42K SM4 QD mod06 on my Spike's 5.5" upper and it's quieter than any other 22LR can I have.

Just my 2.5 cents!!!
