I was at the range and got to shoot one a member had just bought, and I was pretty taken.  Much nicer than I expected, and not at all "toy like" in feel or performance.  I was just about ready to drop the $$ on one when I had a discussion with a buddy who talked me out of it.  Since my go-to weapon is an AR, and I have no HK-platform guns, the GSG-5 would just be a toy, with no training value. Different manual of arms, etc.  I decided to spend the same money on a Spike's Tactical .22LR upper for my AR.  It's still fun and cheap to shoot, and looks cool, but it also offers some real companion-training value with my AR.  I can shoot cheap, but still be getting some good training out of it.

Yup.  That's good solid thinking.  Reasoned.  Rational.  The right thing to do.  That's the way I like to do things.

So...............

Here's my new GSG-5.

Just bought it.  Came with two magazines, and I've already ordered 3 more from TopGunSupply, as well as a fucking claw mount for the red dot and a folding stock.

What the fuck's wrong with me?  What about the training?  What about being able to have a Doppelgänger for my AR but in .22?  I thought this through so damn carefully, but it was just...there...and it was a great deal.

Man, it's a cult.  Now I'm looking at it, thinking about how it just begs to be SBR'd, and thinking "Do I have enough mags?  Can you have enough mags?  I wonder about these HK wide forearms..."

Dammit!

I'm sort of the opposite...the GSG5 is my first rifle, and when I decided on that over an AR, I too used reasoning and rationale...but I dunno...hanging around arf, I find myself constantly checking GB and EE to build a dedicated 22LR AR.  The grass is always greener...or the rifle is always black-er on the 'other side'.

Glad to hear you picked one up, great rifles.

Ya in my opinion if you have an AR(meaning you have a lower) it's kinda of a no brainer to spend that money on a dedicated upper.

Great choice, I've been waiting for a new shipment to come in from my dealer for a month now, already have a hundred bucks down on the rifle and three spare mags ordered as well as one of these 40 rounders from tacticaldesignsunlimited.com, E&L SD shroud, RIS frontend and a slider stock, seems I'm only missing what matters.

I just picked up one yesterday, and spent the majority of the day looking at it.  You and me both made the right choice.

Hi-Cap, which one of the E&L SD shrouds did you order? I see there's three of them to choose from? Which one worked for you? HK-94 SD, SW-5, BW-5 SD, or SW .45 SD???

OK, now you need to come clean - when exactly did you get the claw mount for it?

OK, OK, early December, but HEY!  You never know when you may just need a mount that you may or may not put on a gun that you may or may not own some time in the future.

Besides, if I say "Anybody on this board who hasn't bought something for a gun they don't even own, take one step backward," my guess is very few people are moving.

I sure as hell am not.  Typically with me it's magazines.

I told myself I wouldn't get one either. I would just spend the money on a dedicated upper for the AR. Then I stopped at a shop and there was this new GSG sitting there and I made the mistake of holding it........

Everyone loves mine. The magazines just instantly empty themselves. I don't understand it. Its like they thing won't do a single shot, it just spits out brass when you pull the trigger. I mean, one pull and the mag is empty. What is with these guns? I need a 550 round mag. I could just dump a box of Federal Bulk in it and pull the trigger. It would probably just eat that up too.

What is with these guns anyway? Is this a disease or what?

Enjoy the gun. Do as I have learned to do; go to Walmart and just buy however many bulk packs of Federals they have that day. They know me now, they just shake their heads and wonder where all that stuff it going.
