I went out today with Balisong, to a tactical shoot fundraiser.
It was a great time.
To prep for it, we went to the local range yesterday, and between the 2 of us, we put about 800 rounds down range. What a great time.
At the shoot, I put about 350 rounds down range, Wally-World's Federal Bulk Pack - I had 1x FTF (fortunately, not when it counted), and that's it for ammo issues. Good strike on the rim, just no bang to go with it.
I had zero FTE, zero jams, zero feed issues... generally zero problems at all.
I think that of all the folks that were there, I'm the only one that didn't have any issues.
There were 22's galore, of all makes and models. All the way from a backpacking no frills, to a fully SBR'd, way tricked out AR conversion with a collapsible stock. It was about 18 inches long when all collapsed. Pretty cool looking - but it jammed 3-4 times.
the 10-22's had BIG issues. All of them. Every single one. Feed issues, FTE, FTF, outright jams... the whole ball park. Couldn't have been a mag issue, as they were all using different kinds. Everything from stock 10 round rotary, to HUGE aftermarket mags.
I'm feeling better and better about the GSG5 all the time - and I was feeling pretty darn good before.
I had a cupla folks who were very interested in it, and ammo being inexpensive, I let them shoot some mags downrange.
"I'm gonna have to go get one of these" was the theme of the day.
There was one guy that was there, just bought his son a GSG5 as a Christmas present. He brought it out, to make sure that it worked ok. Apparently the son is big time in to airsoft, and has a few MP-5's, so furniture/goodies shouldn't be a problem for him.
What a dad. I want a dad like that.
The other fun thing about this, is that the mount that I ordered for my red dot, with the sight mounted, doesn't fit in my case. (Yet another thing that I will need to upgrade... it never ends ) So hoping for the best, I pulled the mount off, and stuck it back on today at the shoot. It holds zero through a dismount.
I'm very pleased indeed. Here's to hoping we get more of these shoots soon.
