| I see the revolving HK style apetures have different height apetures, what distance are they supposed to be setup for? Or are they to compensate for different types of ammo? |
Using the notch as a reference: notch to the right will give you the 100yd peep. notch the the left will give you the 25yd peep notch forward gives you the 50yd peep Some will say the peeps are all at the same height, I have yet to prove that correct or incorrect but these settings let me hit tin cans from point-blank to 100yds with Mini-Mags. |
| Thanks, I just picked one up and I can see for sure they are different height, verified the POA was different as well. I sighted in with the first hole to the right of the sight and was about 1" high at 25yds, close enough for me. I was shooting nice tight touching holes most of the time from that distance. I'm very happy! |

That's an interesting thesis for the three peep hole aperatures. I finally had my GSG-5 for an extended test at my nearby outdoor range and all three peeps were shooting at roughly the same POA/POI. I was about 3"-4" high at 25-yards and at least 6"-7" high at 50-yards. I guess my 3 peep sights must be set up for 100-yards or something. If I used the notch sight and lolly-popped the POA sight picture (putting it at the base of the bulleseye and not in the center of the X-ring), then I was maybe an inch high at 25-yards and two-inches high 50-yards. The peep sights really suck on my second-gen GSG-5 and I have shot at least 1,500 rounds at 50-feet, 25-yards and 50-yards to verify the accuracy or lack there of. Having to use the notch sight to get close to the target reminds me of the sight picture on an AK, which is not the most accurate rifle on this planet by any means. I am not talking precision shooting here, just hitting the target center at a respectable distance. In comparison, my Ruger K10/22 carbine with tech-sights was putting all of the rounds in the dead center of the target in one huge hole...a big difference in repeatable accuracy, but it doesn't look as cool as the GSG-5. |

Same here, when I am shooting at 50 yards a six o'clock hold with hit at the top of the target. Not so much of an issue at 100 yards but definatly high at 50! |
