I just got the GSG back from the smith. It is very quiet!!!!!!!! with Rem SS, the Aguila Super Extra will not cycle. The can is an OBII, and is much quieter than my Mosquito. Have not decided wheether to SBR yet. i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/richierich_69/GSG%20outback/Outback004.jpg i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii284/richierich_69/GSG%20outback/Outback005.jpg |

Cas05, I've been trying to find a way to quiet it down SBR suppressed. What length barrel did you use, what suppressor (year made), how does it compare to a p22/mosquito suppressed? I've been hearing a lot about the GSG-5 being much louder than pistols and I'm hoping for the kind of suppression that sounds like an Outback II on a P22 w/ subsonic ammunition. I.E. all you hear is the action noise. Thanks Ninja edit: Could you post a video on youtube or something shooting a pistol with subsonic ammo/suppressed and the GSG-5 w/ warlock with subsonic and HV ammo? -John |

The 16" barrel is threaded. He made an adapter to 1/2-28 threads. Then he reamed out a portion of the fake suppressor to give it a flush look. It is "Hollywood Quiet" at 16" with Rem SS. It is pellet gun quiet with CCI and Fed standard. Took it to the range today, and i'm getting used to it. Though, in the end, i will probably SBR it. rich |
I would have to say that it is as quite as my p22 outback setup, The barrel on my gsg is 8" long actually 7.97" and I am using a brand new warlock qd. I have only used cci subsonic, and some s&b standard velocity. The cci subsonic was quieter out of the gsg than the s&b, but out of my p22 both sound about the same. |
Adam, That is the whole point! That way i can take the optics off, and run the iron class. I just put the muzzle on the target and go. BTW, congrat on the M41000. Hopefully my paperwork will ready for the Nov 15 carbine match. rich |
Hmm, maybe the warlock is more effective on that barrel length, I've read a few reviews/threads about the outback II on the GSG-5 sbr not being as quiet. I may just need to hear them in person to get it figured out. Unless you maybe you could make a video shooting your p22 & your gsg-5 suppressed side by side? Edit: The thread compared the GSG-5 SBR Suppressed to a Ruger 10/22 Suppressed. In my mind that's what I have for comparison, and I've got a ruger 10/22 & p22, and the ruger is way louder when both are used with Outback II's. I wish I lived closer to TX than NV, we could do a shoot. I'd bring tannerite =D Double edit: Has anyone in the great Las Vegas area SBR'd their GSG-5 and have a suppressor adapter on it? |
