I know, I know.  Despite everyone's warning, I managed to lose my bolt hold open spring.  Anyone know where I can find a suitable replacement?  I couldn't find anything in an AR parts kit that would work.
Thanks

I almost lost mine. I would have tried the spring from a ball-point pen.

I don't know if it would work, but I can't think of why it wouldn't.

ETA: perhaps a cut down spring from a buffer retainer on an AR. Disconnector spring? Bolt release detent spring?

Don't feel bad, I have to find a replacement myself...  To my credit, I didn't lose it, I had the whole mess disassembled on the kitchen counter, and my wife moved everything to clean....he

I couldnt find anything in an AR parts kit that would work and I spent an hour tearing my house apart trying to find a ball point pen.

I will stop at CVS one the way home.  Thanks for the tip

I think the next package someone should put together and sell is a spring replacement kit.

I believe 3mm by 11mm long should about do it.

msc.direct.com             You can get a ten pack for $5.79 .  Look for compression springs.

just message ray at amchar and get the proper spring.  I used a small dab of JB Weld to hold my spring in permanently after replacing the first missing one.
