ok i'm really frustrated to hell right now.

just cleaned the gsg for the first time ever and i cannot complete the reassembly...maybe i am missing something blatantly obvious here but the trouble is that:

i had to remove the 2 main springs in the breech housing when i disassembled, as i saw no other way of removing the bolt stopper without doing so.

now of course the problem is that 1) i can't get the main springs back in after i put the breech housing back into the "upper" and 2) if i have the main springs already in the breech housing, then i can't seem to find a way to put the bolt stopper back in.

i hope someone understand what i'm trying to say here...i'll take pics tomorrow if necessary but i've definitely had it for one night.

would really appreciate any input here, thanks in advance.

Pics would help.  Also look in the GSG General sticky.  Either look at the breech housing take down pics or more info with the parts diagram.  You can give us numbers to parts you are having problems getting together.

ok i'm at work so i'll try to be as detailed as possible going off the exploded parts diagram.

when i was taking it all apart, i was going by the manual where it said that you had to get part #48 out in order to slide the frame body off the receiver.

well the only way i could do that was to remove the 2 long screws (part #90) from part #86.

once i removed those though obviously the 2 main springs (part #8) went crazy and pretty much were all twisted up inside the breech body.

now that i'm trying to put it back together my problem is that the only way i can screw parts #90 back into part #86 while encapsulating the springs (part #8) within is if i do do it before putting the breech body back into the receiver.

however, if i do this, then once again the screws (#90) prohibit me from being able to put back in part #48......but if i put the breech body back into the receiver without screwing #90 back in, then once i get #48 all settled, there's no way i can screw #90 back in and still manage to compress and align the springs (#8).

i hope that makes more sense as far as what's going on...

Be careful, repeated assembly/disassembly will strip the self screwed housing. Ask me how I know. You'll have to really play with things until you attempt to secure them for reassembly, It's a pain in the ass that is one reason why I only disassemble to manufacturer recommendations.

You went wrong removing those 2 spring guides, part 90.  You need to put those in part 89 first, then only slide one spring on and put it in the same half of the breech housing shell, part 91 or 92.  Once you have the one side on, you can slip on the other spring and starting with the other 1/2 of the shell, push it from the back with the sping in its area and then mate the 2 halfs together.

It is hard to describe how to do this in text.

I've taken my breech housing completely apart about 8 times already and have never stripped any factory screws.

you sure you don't mean part 86 right there?

i think i kind of understand what you're saying but isn't the final result the same as what i'm already able to do right now? which is have parts 90 in there w/the springs on?

my problem is i can't get the breech housing in this final stage back into the receiver AND manage to fit in the gas block part (#48).

whoops my bad ya i meant part 86.

once assembled it should go back in the receiver.  refer to the owners manual.  the breech block must be kept towards the back of the receiver when the trigger housing is put on.  The drop safety which is a part of the trigger housing slides into the breech housing.  then everything slides up as one piece into place.

so you are agreeing then that the breech housing needs to be 100% completely assembled, w/the main rods (90) and springs (8) installed/screwed in already correct?

and that w/this completely assembled, i should still be able to slide it into the receiver and then put the block piece 48 into it's recessed slot in the receiver as well?

The breech-housing needs to be completely assembled before installing it into the receiver.  That is how it came out, right..... so it has to go back in the same way.

Once you have the breech housing and trigger housing slid into place, put the trigger group pin in.  Then all you have to do is put piece 48 into its slot.  You may need to push on the breech housing a tiny bit forward in order to put piece 48 in.  Like an 1/8".

well, not for me...like i said, i had to remove the 2 main screws of the breech housing before i could ever get the gas block piece out (#48) bc they were essentially preventing me from lifting the piece up and out from the recessed area where it goes.

FINALLY got the mans rifle fixed and put back together last night.  Well I figured out why he couldnt get it to go back togeter and well it was a 2 cent part.  When you flip the upper reciever over what happens when the last round bolt hold open spring goes missing?  The bolt hold open piece keeps the bolt open.... after I tried to put it back together for the first time I realised just what was going on.  No big deal .... hold the bolt catch up and slide it all in ...... works slicker than snot.  He did mention that the other week he found a sping on the floor and didnt know what it went to ...... I suggested that he reinstall it when he got home.
