Guy's, I'm NOT a novice at firearms disassembly or cleaning, but this gun, as much as I love it (and that's a bunch!) scares me when I think about disassembling it for cleaning. From your pics, this resembles a Swiss watch more then a .22! What is the minimum disassembly required for cleaning after say, 400 rounds? BTW, those 400 rds sure made my buddies and their sons smile, Well, thanks up front for any help or advice.... R/ OMC |

I'm trying something different as (pardon me) I don't care to use a screw driver to have to clean a gun and worry about this screw or that spring popping out and getting lost. I clean it (so far) no different than my 10/22 on an average cleaning - 22 bore brush and rod, .22 bore snake, thoroughly clean out the bolt face and chamber area. In other words, I don't break it down. 200 trouble free rounds so far. My personal philosophy is I'll break it down when I have too, if I don't - I won't. It isn't like this is definitely going to be a gun my life is going to depend on..., those I do break down and clean every time as per instructions but they are easier to do so than this gun and require no tools. I broke my GSG down around 500-700rds. The only issue I had prior to cleaning it was one FTF and one FTE...we was rapid fireing the shit out of it plus it was dirty. So I'm not disapointed one bit. That and two miss fires is all I've encountered in about 1300rds. Anyhow, just like stated above, break it down as per the manual. It's easier than you think...three screws: one near the mag release, one for the stock and the other just inside the stock for the bolt. That's it. Personaly, I don't see any harm cleaning it without breaking it down all the time. But I would do it every once and a while to make sure it's lube etc. |
