| Prompt service from GSG, took about 4 days to get it. But Man, what a pain in the ass to install. Thank god for the tutorial in the "BIG THREAD" because there were no instructions included with the parts. Watch out for flying springs, no matter how careful I was, the one that holds the round button that captures the firing pin kept flying. And putting the carrier halves back together was quite a task also. I'm still getting some fail to fires which I attribute to ammo issues. But it is a major improvement. The one thing that stood out when I disassembled the bolt was the three screws that hold the top of the bolt on had backed out. The new screws are T9. |

My replacement pin did not resolve the issue. I finally got my GSG5 running 100% after modifying the pin in the following manner. Disclaimer - I am in no way suggesting anyone should do this modification....just reporting what worked with MY gun. Attempt 1 - With replacement firing pin, no modifications: 3-5 FTF's per mag. Attempt 2 - With replacement pin after opening up the FP hole a couple thousandths.....filing the front angles of the firing pin slightly on either side to make the strike surface smaller in hopes of delivering a more focused blow on the rim.....and removing two coils from the firing pin return spring: about 1 FTF per mag Attempt 3 - I filed down the stop right above the strike surface very slightly. Still about 1 FTF per mag. Attempt 4 - Cut two more coils from the FP return spring. It still feels like there is PLENTY of spring pressure to keep the FP from bouncing when the bolt closes: 440rds with ZERO FTF's I'm finally a happy camper. |
