Looking for a cheap Eotech clone. I found a site that has them starting at $76 but they only take PayPal. Anyone know of any sites that offer them for $100 range that take CC???

I'd be interested in hearing how these clones stood up to real recoil.

I picked one of the newer copies never intending to do so but I put it on my M4.
Blasted all day long and it held up just fine. I am sure over time it will fail but if it took the racking of the M4 it will surely handle the non-existent recoil of the GSG. The is no shock to absorb and for the money it will look real cool and function well.
I am still waiting for my rail to come in. I will post pics when it does but it will look like the others that are posted already. I will be adding a micro dot to mine. I have used it on another .22 semi without ANY problems. It holds a zero but, I do not take it on and off except to change the battery.

They have been out for a while. I have one that looks just like the real deal.
The weight is different and the screws are very soft but it works.
Like I said, It held up to being fired on the AR for several trips to the range.
Held a zero and kept on going. I am not real crazy about the size to view optic so I am switching to a micro dot.

There are copies of just about everything now.....latest is the 3X magnifyers.....yep, bought one of those too.
I figured why not give it a try....if it blows it was only $60.00 bucks. Now I see them for upwards of $150.00 with a twist off mount. The mount will not match the height on my Aimpoint but that is easy to fix. I am waiting on the LaRue filp-to-side to add it to the AR. It is not the factory Aimpoint but I can but four for the price of the real one.....why not.

It's nothing new.....

You can catch the little f*ckers at SHOT swarming booths with cameras trying to get every angle they can before you kick them out.

I was thinking about a eotech clone but for the same cost I picked up an aimpoint clone and a reflex optic, both for the cost of an eotech clone.  Right now I like the reflex better as it is a little higher and clears the front iron better and is also lighter.  I don't know if I want to sell the aimpoint clone or keep it yet.

They are not in the same league. You get what you pay for.
The LaRue stuff is rock solid and utterly dependable.

The clone stuff is just, well, a cheap immitation of the real thing.
My AR and other HK stuff is real but for the plinker....all bets are off.

Sure, I could buy B&T scope mount, Dr. Optics sight, Knight or SureFire rails, Tango down covers, etc... OR buy a second GSG, all of the stuff I want, more mags and ammo to shoot every day for a month straight.....BIG DECISION.

As long as they are clearly marked and marketed for airsoft, I dont have a huge problem with it. I have a CA UMP stock on order after all :)

My problem is when they are sold as the real deal to our troops via ebay etc and someone's optic or mount goes TU under fire.

wow, they look pretty damn close to the real thing...i bet i could tell by inspecting it up close and holding it, but its because im familure with eotechs...

i wonder how many scam artists are pawning these off on people as the real thing...like on a street corner of a gun show, selling it then getting the hell out of dodge...

would be risky though, good way to get yourself shot or arrested...

I looked at a clone at an airsoft shop and I can say the huge diff is the battery used.  Where we use N or AA batteries, the clones operate with watch type batteries.  When you open the cover on the front, that should say it all.  However, clone makers may adapt with new ones.  Never know.

First one listed says it uses AA batteries. I guess I'm used to seeing Aimpoint clones but thats my first Eotech. What kills me is it's even marked "For LE and Military use" I have no problem with Air soft. I've used UTG rails with no problems. But I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought it. It wasn't marked Daniel Defense, LaRue, or anything resembling that. These could easily be sold as rip o0ffs for the real thing. One rookie on the department got ripped off on an Aimpoint. When he couldn't get it to fit in an Aimpoint mount he brought it to us and we saw it was a knock off. He paid $250 for it on E-bay. We told him to contact the seller and tell him he was LEO and he had been ripped off. This guy actually sold it advertised as an Aimpoint. Believe it or not, the kid got his money back.

Okay...while I've never owned one of these EO clones I've handled one.  They are not holographic like the real EO's.  They have two lenses...one in front of the hood and one in back and project the reticle ala Aimpoint style.  Just a heads up.

look at the second cloe in the list...

the new style close actually produce a real eotech style image, with the center dot and the outer circle with the dashes at 12o clock, 3, 6 and 9...

Well, one should look at the reviews.  There are clones that blatantly say there is no elevation (vertical) adjustment.  So if you're looking into that one, don't do it.  The reviews seem to be brutally honest as well.  I have an EOTech and the EOTech logo is on the battery cover.  These do not unlike the blatant Aimpoint one.

Now who needs an elevation adjustment? That is strange, I guess we get what we pay for.

Where are the reviews at? Found them.

You're not understanding what I'm saying...having owned both Aimpoints and EO's and while handling both sets of clones....the EO clone has a different style of projection (the method it uses to project the reticle) is different than a real EO.  I realize the reticles or the picture you're seeing looking through it is the same.

A real EO has IIRC (don't have one anymore to look at) but it has two pieces of glass...close together.

These symbols represent the hood [] and these symbols represent the glass || while this one represents the reticle +

On a real EO you have [  |+|  ] (from a side view)

On a clone you have [|  +  |] (from a side view) if that all makes sense?

If you guys still don't understand me I'll whip something up on MS Paint.

[#27]
Here's my shitty MS Paint pic...

Also the glass isn't flat on the fakes.  To sum all this up....the clones are a red dot type optic...while the real EO is a holograph.  Thats the best way to put it.  Also not sure if there are any parallax issues w/ the clones.

Pics of a fake EO to further prove what I'm talking about....

Now some pics of my old 512 RevF and 552 RevC  Sorry these are the best personal pics I have to show glass difference in where it sits related to the hood.

Ironically the 552 (tan EO) is pointed at a clone...as I was trying to explain to someone else...sometime back about this same difference lol

Thanks for explaining this to us, it makes sense to me now.

The EOTech clone is just a smaller version of a red dot, put into a EOTech style case.

This is partly an explanation that an airsoft sales guy gave me.  The real EOTech can shift its reticle if a portion of the glass is cracked (per their marketing - see picture) whereas clones cannot.

some people say they like aimpoint better...it boils down to opinion i think...

IMO i like the 1 MOA dot, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE the field of view...also the outer ring would be perfect for CQB

$100+ is a lot of money to spend on a knockoff cheapo optic. I can understand a $30-40 Aimpoint-looking clone, but not this.

To me, you either go as cheap as possible as long as the gadget still does the job to your requirements or you get the real thing.
3/14/2008 7:32:12 AM EDT
[#42]
I had one awhile ago, used it on a 10/22 project that disappointed me, but the clone eotech just stopped working about 3 weeks into using it. But in all farness i bought a CHEAP knock off, paid around 30$ lol.

I have a couple of the 1337 Clonepoints, and they have held up to abuse really well over the years. I don't know how the EoClones work, but I can promise you that they do not have the laser-emitted holographic recticle.

Probably about the same quality as a Hakko HOLOsight - the LED has a cover over it which projects a EOsimilar recticle.

Not worth $100.00...
