Anyone else really love the look and feel of a Damascus Blade? In addition to them being very practical for day to day use, I think that a Damascus Blade or some trim just livens up any knife.

Anybody else really enjoy Damascus?

Oh... never mind.....

Thought you were talking about old Damascus shotguns...

I like the look of damascus blades, but I haven't gotten around to buying one. Most of them are quite expensive.

I'm sure they're practical, but frankly, I'd be hesitant to use one all the time. They look more like works of art than tools.

I bought one from Orvis last year.  The owner of a local knife shop who sharpened it for me (it came rather dull) told me it's very practical, but I just can't bear the thought of gutting a pheasant with it, what with the nice patterns and figured wood handle.

I have 10 or 12 Damascus blades in my collection
and use 2 on a regular basis because of their
unique look. Some are very high priced collectors
pieces,  never to be used, but the 2 "carries",
both folders, came with moderate price tags and
add a little class when everyone is "showing off" what they are carrying today.
Damascus, when properly cared for, makes a good
user, sharp and easy to sharpen-stainless damascus is very good to use but tough on the wallet.
good, but

I'm glad to see so many other folks that love Damascus. One problem I've found is that so many people think that it's just for show. But as so many of you have said, it is a real workhorse too. I just hope that more people will start actually using their Damascus blades.

Here's one of mine. It was made by Don Greenaway and I've about worn all of the black off most of the handle. But it's still one of my favorite EDCs.
