I have had a lot of different sharping systems over the years and was not very successful with any of them I would send all of my nice knives back to the factory
Well today my ken onion work sharp arrived.....I just sharpened about 10 shit knives to razor sharp in about 20 minutes for the bunch then I tackled my zt i was able to take it to beyond factory sharp in about 5 min this thing is perfect it takes zero skill and is fast....belt changes to switch grits takes about ten seconds it is so well thought out I didn't watch the dvd or any you tube videos just looked at the back of the box for a minute and went for it I cannot reccomend this thing enough |

I can't seem to get stuff suprr sharp, am I doing something wrong? Different angle? Too slow pulling it through? Define "Super Sharp" ? But angle is important for the type of blade/use. And certain steels will take a bit more than others to make sharp. Mine does a great job at general working sharp and honestly the 6000 girt polishing belt should produce a hair popping edge if you;ve worked through the others in order. That and stropping the finished edge on a belt or a bit of cardbord. |

I follow the quick reference chart they include for angle and such for specific knife types This is my first time with real sharpening equipment, feel like I'm not getting the most out of it |

I have one too. I use it on all the blades I have that never leave home. I still use DMT stones on my everyday knife b/c it's easier to touch up when away from home. It really is a time saver. Early spring of this year I got all my yard tools sharpened and a bunch of kitchen knives in less than an hour. The belts last much longer than I expected. I'm not entirely sold on the leather strop belt that you can buy on amazon. Seems all it's good for is dulling a sharp edge. |

I just choose a belt grit that I thought would work well for the condition of the blade. Very poor results. Then I followed the recommended procedure and worked up from coarse to the fine. Very different results. Now I have a collection of razor blades!!! |

I also got a leather strop for it on amazon. How do you like it? Love it! I get a little carried away polishing the edge of my knives now. Honestly not sure why I never stropped before...I don't think I have any knives that won't easily shave now. |

This is the one I got that fits the standard work sharp. I think the ken onion takes a wider belt.
Amazon Link The only negative reviews seem to be from people who face the knife blade against the direction the belt is going so it cuts the belt. I've stropped all my knives now (some several times to make them extra shiny ) and my strop looks like new except for the compound embedded in it now.
