Someone point me in the right direction here.

I have a couple of autos I want to sell. From what I've been able to gather, it is illegal federally for me to ship them to someone out of state unless that person is mil, LE, or an "authorized dealer", correct? But, I can ship them to someone in-state as SD has virtually no knife laws?

There are some states that allow autos. There should be a list. I believe liability falls on the buyer. Ebay wont allow them to be sold on their site. I had a butterfly add pulled a couple years ago. Blade forums or jersey devil are two good places to sale such knives.

I wouldn't sell an automatic knife across state lines:

The Switchblade Knife Act, (Pub.L. 85–623, 72 Stat. 562, enacted on August 12, 1958, and codified in 15 U.S.C. §§ 1241–1245), prohibits the manufacture, importation, distribution, transportation, and sale of switchblade knives in commercial transactions substantially affecting interstate commerce[66] between any state, territory, possession of the United States, or the District of Columbia, and any place outside that state, territory, U.S. possession, or the District of Columbia. The Act also prohibits possession of such knives on federal or Indian lands or on lands subject to federal jurisdiction. It does not prohibit the ownership or carrying of automatic knives or switchblades inside a state while not on federal property, nor does it prohibit the acquisition or disposition of such knives in an intrastate transaction or an interstate transaction that is noncommercial and/or does not substantially affect interstate commerce (as defined by recent decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court).

I wouldn't mail an automatic knife either:

U.S.C. 1716 prohibits the mailing or transport of switchblades or automatic knives through the U.S. mails (U.S. Postal Service), with a few designated exceptions.[67] The act provides for a fine and/or imprisonment of not more than one year.

I would use a middle man like ArizonaCustomKnives.com.   You can call them an tell them you have a buyer and mail them your knife.  They will collect the funds and send you your money.   Or you can just sell the knives to them and get your money directly.   They sell thousands of autos per year and let them assume the liability.

Please note that it says "through US mail..." Make sure the state allows it- California, Massachusetts, New York, are at the top of the list for No No's, Florida (where I am) allows them. I am an authorized dealer if you need one for here. I have a list somewhere on what states don't allow them.
