Got this today as a gift from a friend. It's one of those things I'd most likely not purchase for myself at this price and that's the only con I see to it.

I'm really impressed. If humans had a claw this would be how it feels. I really need to practice how to draw this from concealment.

The blade is super small but a nasty cutter. I can see the value as a weapon of last resort where the bad guy starts bleeding and wonders what's going on.

When I read a story on the knife forums about someone severing a major tendon or artery, a karambit is usually involved. Be careful.

Yeah, but it's almost always due to spinning them. The design of this particular one doesn't really work for that, so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

I've been interested in these for a little while. I've read that the newer production models are haveing QC issues with the grind, specifically that the knife isn't sharp. Do you happen to know the age of your Karambite, and can you comment on the edge?

Brand new production shipped here this week.  It's not very sharp but I can sharpen it.

Is it sharp enough from the manufacturer to perform it's intended task?

I've gone after several plastic bottles and cardboard boxes with it.  I'm happy with the sharpness but a bit of time on my Work Sharp Onion Edition will make it even sharper.
