Trying to understand which blade I should buy next. Moving into a new place at the end of the month, so the budget is going to be tight for the foreseeable future so the selection is somewhat important (first world problem I know).

I'm looking at two blades. Both have a somewhat different POU, but they share some aspects as well. I'm looking at the fixed blade CRKT Hissatsu, and the SOG Seal Pup Elite. No coatings, just their metal. Both to me are aesthetically pleasing. I know that the SSP would make an all around better purpose knife. I live in the city and occasionally go camping, so my purpose would generally be to on rare occasions to carry it concealed, stuff around the house, camping. I won't be splitting any firewood with it most likely. I guess I'm just looking for opinions on people who've owned both and the good points of each and which they tend to grab as their go to.

Thanks.

Seal Pup = utility
Hissatsu = fighting/slashing

The fact that you go camping seems to make the choice obvious.

Yep.  I like my Hissatsu, but it wouldn't make a very good camping/utility knife.

 Fight or do whatever with it.  I've got mine and like it so far.

If you're looking for a fixed blade though with a 4ish inch blade you should check out the Esee 4, I have one and it's pretty awesome.  It does have a blade coating but I think they have a model now that does not but you might have to do some searching for it.  Good luck whatever you do though!

ETA: And you better post picks!

+1 on the ESEE 4. You can find the uncoated version at the knife connection but depending on where you live that may not be wise with 1095 steel. I just removed a bit of coating on the spine in front of the jimping for striking a ferro rod.
