| Anyone out there have one, if so what do you think of it. I always wanted one when I was a kid looking through the US Calvary catalog. I already have a few semi customs and a couple of custom knives just looking at adding it as a collector piece. Last year I did pick up a Phrobis M9 bayonet that was based on the Buckmaster. I am seeing them on ebay for around 350-500 for good condition with box and paperwork and all extras. |

I never figured any Navy SEAL would carry such a monster heavy knife, and using it as a grappling hook was just silly.
The earlier knives seemed to be nicer then the later knives with the cast-in markings on the side of the blade. Other than the massive weight, they were a really nice quality knife and strong as Hell. Beware of Japanese made "replicas". People mistakenly buy these thinking they're genuine Buck's. |
| I bought one in the early 80's as a survival knife when living/flying in AK. When actually trying to use it, the saw back was worthless. The knife was pretty tough and used it to chop light wood and similar stuff. A while later in life I was in Calif. working Aerospace and met a guy that served in Army Aviation during Grenada. He knew a Recon guy that lost his BM knife in the chest of some combatant. The knife was stuck in the ribs and couldn't get it out. He had to un-ass the area quick and lost it. Don't know how true the story is but the guy was pretty legit and adding it to my limited experience it sounded plausible. |
