| I have heard good things about this knife as an all around performer and am looking into getting one. I wanna know what you all think first. Let me know if you have any experience with one and/or own one. Post pics if you got em |

It depends on what you plan to do with it. If you absolutely have to have a Spyderco, it works. I personally don't like it. The edge retention to sharpenability is pretty bad, the liner is too springy, and Sanrenmu (the manufacturer) sells their knives for $10-$15. I just got a Sanrenmu 913P in a trade. It's the Tenascious with a different blade and a thicker liner. Both are just a reshape from when Benchmade sourced Sanrenmu for the Vex model.
The 913P is a Tenascious on steroids, and my Ontario Utilitac II would cut them both in half while also having a MUCH smoother action and stronger lockup. I have yet to hand my Utilitac II to a Tenascious owner and them not be amazed by it. The Tenascious is just a rebranded $10 knife, and in my opinion, it shows. Sanrenmu sells the Tenascious under their brand domestically in China. If you find a Chinese knife vendor that ships internationally, you're willing to risk your credit card, and you're willing to wait a month for it, you can get one for $10-$20. Decent knife, but not worth $40 IMO. (Hides from incoming bricks.) |

Can you source your info? The 913p looks nothing like the tenacious. you can't compare apples to oranges. For the money it's a great knife. It's the same steel that Kershaw and "other" manufactures use for value lines. I have to touch up the edge on mine every 2 months or so with daily use . It has grippy g10 and great ergonomics. There are many like it, but this one is mine. http://i841.photobucket.com/albums/zz336/Dodge223/Blades/FD4B0543-231F-4A1A-A355-329C2AB2E11E-10332-000002F33BA98B55_zpsb8988ede.jpg Quoted:

If you have held the knives side by side, it's plainly obvious the Vex was the starting point for the 913P and Tenascious. Notice I said it was a reshape, not that they all look alike. Sal even said Sanrenmu was knocking off their spider hole long before the licensed Benchmade Vex but that he doesn't care what they do as long as they aren't exporting them. Problem is, their $30-$50 knife can be had for $10 plus shipping from multiple Chinese knife vendors now. But again it's only fair to mention you have to wait, risk your credit card, and risk it getting swiped as a counterfeit in customs, though technically it isn't. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I find the steel to be lacking, the G10 mixture questionable, and the liner too flimsy. Different strokes. I do really like that spine modification though. |
| Thanks for the pics and opinions guys. For those of you who think it is not worth it, what other spyderco would you recommend instead? Keep in mind that this is a $30 knife for a reason. There are obvious spydercos that are better (para military) but I am not looking for a $100+ knife |

I've got the whole Tenacious family, Ambitious, Persistence, Tenacious and the Resilience. For 30+ dollar knives they are great. Depending on what I am doing or what I feel like carrying they are my goto knife for everyday work chores, opening boxes, cutting tape, skinning the sheaths on cable, sharpening pencils, whatever needs done.
My personal sweet spot in the lineup is the Ambitious & the Persistence. Big enough to get the chores done, small enough to not freak people out. I also tend to sharpen them every one to two weeks depending on what I've been doing to them. The blade steel won't hold an edge like the super steels but you're not paying S90V prices either. The one draw back that I have found to the steel is it loves to hold tape residue, if I cut open a bunch of boxes I can figure on spending a couple of minutes cleaning all the gunk off the blade. The real upside for me is that the Tenacious, (or the rest of the line) are good everyday user knives that won't drive me absolutely batshit if I loose one, (having lost a ZT once it drove me freaking nuts).
