so i was under the impression multitasker was US made, and just found out they aren't. i feel kind of let down. the tool i have is awesome, but i just cant look at it the same way anymore.

anyhoo, what other multitools are manufactured here? i know the SOGs are "designed and assembled in the US", so halfway i guess.

i would appreciate answers and not people bullying me for my stance on the subject.

Thank you for contacting us regarding where our products are made.
About 6 years ago we made this change to our tool production in response to a California state law. The law says that any product with even a small part of foreign content cannot be labeled “Made in USA” if it is sold in California.

Since California is a large market for us, we decided to change our tools to ensure we comply with the law.

The foreign content of our tools is very, very small. A few components (like files) are sent to Europe for final finishing and the jaws are cast in Mexico. Everything else regarding our tools – including the design, the steel, the component forming, most finishing and sharpening, and all assembly, is done in the USA.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Teresa Gregg

Why would anyone bully anyone for only wanting to buy Made in USA.? I go out of my way to do so if I can. I don't mind paying a little extra but most time it is the same or cheaper. Besides every American job is one less member in the FSA so in the long run it costs me less.

Leatherman!

I doubt there's very many if any general multi-tools that are 100% raw materials to final product that are 100% made in the USA these days. If there are, I'm interested as well. But, until then...I'll enjoy my Leatherman tools.

I've asked similar questions before and there's always someone who says "if its quality it doesn't matter where it's made, some American made stuff is trash, not everything made in china is bad, etc". Like I said I have a multitasker and its great, but I like to keep my money here. I though leatherman was offshore; is that all of their models?

Yep, leatherman comes to mind though I prefer SOG to them.... Emerson has a new multitool out with a plier/multitool to follow:

Definitely made in the US and by some good people to boot, they'll get my money before Leatherman too.

The Emerson/multitasker collaboration is made in china. That's how I found out about this yesterday, from their Facebook page where it mentioned that. I was really lookin forward to that.
