Anyone here have one? I'm looking for a new knife and I would like to try out a neck knife. I was leaning toward the Izula but the Candiru is smaller. The only drawback that I can see is that it doesn't come with a kydex sheath, only a nylon/plastic sheath. So, anyone have one, had their hands on one, used one? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

don't have one, but find it pretty hilarious that they named that knife after the dick catfish

Yes I have one and I really like it. Although I have not used it as a neck knife it smaller size gets it into places (like a small E&E kit) that the Izula can not. Down side? The sheath just plain sucks. I would have to consider the purchase of one incomplete without the additional purchase of something else. I can not speak to the scales that they sell as to how they function or if they are worth there asking price (I ended up putting my own scales on mine).

-I am not trying to de-rail a candiru thread as I really like them, but if you can go more money and a little more size the Bark River Neck knife is nice (comes with two sheaths and a bunch of color options of scales(for more money)) also I use the Brous Blades Silent Soldier II.

The Bark River knives look good, but they are a little more and a little larger than I want. SC knife laws are a little vague to me and I want to keep it to 2 in or less. Most LEO do not care about folders if you aren't doing anything stupid with them, but I would like to keep a fixed blade at or below the 2in length.

I saw that earlier. It fits the budget and blade length. Only issue is the sheath. I would need to find someone to make a kydex sheath. Godspeedtactical makes kydex for the Candiru. I'll send a e-mail and ask about the kershaw.
I've had a few Kershaws.  A Zing is my current EDC
ETA just checked that site. He is back logged on orders and disabled the contact feature.  So. Anyone here work with kydex?

I am pretty sure that there are kydex benders here although I don't know who...  you might do a search here.  You can also look on blade forums - I am sure there is a no shortage of kydex benders there...

the mini-skinner was and could still be my EDC knife and was/could still be my fine work knife around camp.

i say was/could be , because there was nothing wrong with the knife, i just moved into the new hotness that was the esee brand.....that aside I'm still constantly wondering if my esee's are as good as that kershaw was to me, very dependable blade that kept it's edge through some pretty tough abuse and was still able to skin some meat right after some light batoning .... it stayed sharp, clean and rust free for my duration of use (2~3 years or so?)

i'm a leather sheath guy and almost always replace the plastic sheaths with leather, so that was a non-issue for me and found that the leather sheath included with he mini-skinner to be a good one that worked perfectly after some break in (like most leather products require)

the kershaw mini-skinner was/still is one of my favorite knives I've even owned, it was a dam useful blade.

You really can't go wrong with either the Izula or the Candiru. I have both but carry the Izula more as it fits my hand a little better.  I have kydex for both but I'm new here and I don't know if it's cool to post the contact info for the gentlemen I got them from. They're big on Bladeforums, they do great work and they are both really great people to deal with. Either let me know it's okay to post their contact info, or shoot me a message and I'll get you in touch with them if you're interested.

Sorry but I don't have any pictures of my Candiru that I can easily get to.

Below you can see the custom Kydex for my and my old lady's Izulas.  Jessica's is a fold over style. Mine is a pancake style with a holder for a Light My Fire Mini.  An ESEE 6 is also pictured.

A closer look at mine.

You'll be glad you did, I was hesitant to buy the Izula because I had a lot of big knives (long time ago) and when I did I found that these little blades get the most use from me.  When paired with a larger knife or just edc the Candiru is great.

My larger knife is either an ESEE-6, Laser Strike or a Bush Monkey Knives: Big Bend and I pair each of them with either an Izula or the Candiru:

Post pics when you get yours setup.
