I'm considering the purchase of a 3 stone sharpening kit like this, but before I spend the money, I need some advice.

1. What are the pros and cons of natural stones?

2. What are the pros and cons of synthetic or diamond stones?

3. What length stones do I need for sharpening longer blades, i.e., fillet knives

4. What type (diamond, natural, synthetic) of stones do you prefer?

5. Recommend me a 3 stone sharpening kit.

Thanks.

DMT 6-2 dia-sharp like these DMT
They will last forever cut fast and even. With a good set of diamond stones there is no reason to go natural unless you want to spend forever sharping the newer steels on the market.
Some of the newer stuff like M-390 cts204p etc etc are 62-64 RC even s30v is a pain with natural IMO
I would buy a fine/extra fine combo and a course for profiling
You would have around $75 for the two and they will last a very long time while also cutting fast and true.
I would add a leather strop with some green rouge if you want it to tree top hair

I don't care for a mirror polish like some but If I want to put one on a blade I use 1500 grit then 2000 wet 3m sandpaper on a piece of sanded pine 2x4
I use it just like a stone pushing the edge down the paper ( it will not cut the paper if your doing it right no pressure is needed )

Honestly since I started using these I don't touch anything else I own
