When did you get those?   Some look to be very new.   Others look to be at least 20 or more years old.

Could you go back and mark the year on your knives?

I don't have as many collectible, handmade knives.    I was a bit too stupid when younger and started collecting knives later in life.

KYVENOM

It's a mix of older and new Randalls.
Been "collecting" for a few years now.
Don't tell the wife!

Here's one you will probably never see duplicated:

Randall 12/9-14 Challenger Mission Memorial by Capt'n Chris Stanaback:

1 of 86, Handle of Certified KSC Launchpad G-3 with Space Shuttle Challenger Etching...fresh out of the wrapping paper.

Good stuff, drshame.

Is the Mission Memorial knife the one that sold on eBay last week? IIRC it was #1 of 86.

My Grandfather was a personal friend of Mr Randall during the 50's-60's and I've been a Randall affectionado since the mid 60's.

"Is the Mission Memorial knife the one that sold on eBay last week? "

Chris Stanaback was able to find surplus KSC Launchpad G-3 and the 12-9/14 was apparently the knife Randall and he chose to use it on because of the size of the launch pad electrical insulation used for the handle.

Chris tells me it's a run of 86 that will be completed this fall. I just got mine from him after about a year wait...which is not that bad considering they are quoting 58 months now for regular orders.

This is NOT off Ebay, this is a priceless collectible to me having covered the Space Shuttle program before & after Challenger and been up there while the smoke was still in the air and 3 months after.

If there are any for sale, they came from Capt'N Chris and carry a certificate of authenticity for the original owner.

It's a damn big knife too.

What are all the models? I'd love a psk. Is the first one a skeleton handle psk?

I understand and can appreciate all of that as I know more than a little about Randall knives myself, and I am in no way challenging it's authenticity or your integrity. This is the reason I asked:

Osprey 21:

1 of 86 total production.
Not bought as an investment.

I have no way of knowing what actual number mine is. But unless the makers are fudging the numbers, which I don't think they are, it's a very limited release and one I wanted to share.

That Ebay price reasonable..I've seen one other there for a bunch more...they are around.

But this one is mine.

And having covered the Space Shuttle program before and after Challenger, it's something I've always wanted.

WSIX:

The first shot is Randall's "Triathlete" skeleton knife.
Some owners have added full handles and they look Great.
I'm leaving mine alone!

Here's an old Model 10 "Saltwater" in rosewood:

I've wanted a Model 18 since I was a kid.  The 1, 15, and 16 are probably the best looking.

While I did not know enough to appreciate them when I was younger, eventually I did wise up a bit.     Now, I am a big fan of handmade and hand fitted stuff.

Look at those two above, that almost 40 year old Randal Made knife with the Colt Gold Cup National Match and the Williams Damascus steel knife.   Mine have seen some use.   Actually, a good bit of use.   Both of those hand made knifes get carried, have been used, but had great care.

Now, these below are not special to anyone but me.   However, these two outer knives have seen multiple combat tours and taken me from enlisted to retirement as an officer.    These are between 25 and 30 years old.  These have been through it and back again.   The two outer knives are probably my roughest looking knives.    Nevertheless, I have tried to care for them because of my history with them.  How do they look to you?

My Model 14 & 16 have gotten the most use over the years, but I have used my big bowie to take care of the odd vermin or two:

My Model 5 is now my constant companion on my gun belt when I am out at the ranch checking fences:

Mine get used, but after a little time with Flitz, they look new again.

Take a look at the sheath on my model 14.

However if I need to abuse a knife, the Busse is there for a reason.

Exactly.   Since I have retired my service knives, instead of Busse, I've gone the ESEE and Kershaw/Zero Tolerance route in order to save planned wear and tear.

Plus, the harsh reality is that I often have to conceal what I have with me.    So, more often than not, I do rely on less expensive stuff that would not bother me as much if I had to give it up after "using" it.   Here is some of what I pull from on a day to day basis in the city.  The Ka Bar is shown for size.

The fact is, giving up a Glock, (which I have done before, a model G23), an ESEE, and even the most expensive ZT like the 301 would not bother me like loosing the Gold Cup and one of my handmade knives.

In the country, out hunting,  I still like to carry one of the handmade knives.    Everyone has to make their own judgement calls.
