So I went on a trip last weekend to Las Cruces NM and must have left my new fucking gerber multi tool in the damn hotel room and did not notice til today! The damn thing was only like 3 weeks old! So now i need another one and was wondering what you reccomend? I liked the gerber and the way the tools locked in place but is there something better that will take some abuse out there? What about leathermans? Aside from his polictical shit arethe tools up to par? Thanks for any input and mods if this is not the correct place for this discussion feel free to move it.

I like my Leatherman Skeletool. It's got the basics and you can change out the screwdriver bits. It's way more lightweight than my Gerber. That thing is like a brick.

I have a Leatherman TTI charge as an EDC. It seems well put together and I think Leatherman is considered fairly high quality. Admittedly, I don't use my MT's as hard as others.

SOG Powerlock every day of the week. I've had mine forever and I love it. I gave one to each of my groomsmen when I got married a couple years ago. Can't go wrong.

Thanks for the input... I know I only had the dang thing for like a month (if that) but I sorta liked it. I guess I will look into some of the MT's mentioned and see what I think. If anyone else wants to throw there 2 cents in then feel free as I have not made a choice yet.

Leatherman MUT.  Use it multiple times a day, no need for a sheath.  Much more solid feeling than my previous Gerbers.

I carried a silver Gerber next to my wallet
for at least 10 years, up until I "replaced" it
with a little larger in black a few weeks ago.
The black has a bastard file in it, which is
an important adder for me. Also the wire
cutters have carbide inserts, but overall,
I carry them for the locks on the internal
tools. I liked my SOG, which I still have,
but I cussed at it more than a few times
when the screw drivers would fold on
me.
.
Another feature for the Gerber that I
really like, is the ability to get pliers &
wire cutter into action one handed.

Others may have these features, but
I found them on the Gerber first.

Later!

IIRC Timmy Leatherman donates a decent amount to Anti-gun politicians. victorinox seems like a good idea, seeing as they basically invented the multitool

I also have a Leatherman MUT. I have never had a gerber though. The tools lock very solidly.

I have had a few different Leathermans, but my Gerber 600 is my favorite.  Built tough, and as mentioned, you can open it one handed when you need it.
