has anyone seen this type of knife before. all i can get is that its a best steel no. 6? and thats it.

nope. doesnt have swastika's and its all english with 2 proof marks.

It's definitely some type of paratrooper knife, just not sure of its origin.

It is a Pantographic knife also known as Paratrooper knife.  It uses a pantograph linkage to align the handles when opening and closing.  A pantograph is a device used in manual drafting to make scale copies of original drawings.  More than likely it is post WWII German production for the English speaking market.
