I saw this guy's knives a while back on arfcom, but can't remember the name of the site. It was American........com. I think he used the Japanese word for knife maker, but I can't say for sure. He had some really cool designs and did some custom work, but most of his stuff was pre-made.

AmericanKami.com? Not Japanese...'kami' is Nepalese for master. They do all their own work and it is good.

There are 2 different words for knife makers in Japan... One is a Blacksmith...and the other is a bladesmith. The difference is how and what they do.  Blacksmiths (kajiya) forge metal into shape, finish, and sharpen, and then hand off to the handle maker.

Bladesmith or knife smith is one who makes knives, swords, daggers and other blades using a forge, hammer, anvil, and other smithing tools as well as stock removal. (naifu sumisu)

Dunno who you mean otherwise...
