I'm looking at Mora knives on amazon.
I want to see what all of the hype is and order one of these things.

Is it just me or does it look like 10 different models all with the same blade and different grips?
are there variances in the blades on any of the different models?

this is the one I'm currently thinking about getting

The clipper is no longer available AFAIK.  I have the companion in carbon which is the model that replaced it.  Honestly, you can't beat them for the price.  The sheath is nice but is meant for a thin belt, sits kind of funny on mine.

The blades are all very similar but will be slightly shorter/longer/wider depending on the model.  I have a 510 as well and the dimensions are slightly scalled down from the 840MG.

I believe the standard clipper is no longer in production...  I think it has been replaced by the Companion - it is available in carbon steel and SS; OD green or orange; the orange has a serrated blade option and is available only in SS (IIRC).

I think that the Mora Craftline Allround is the current "standard" replacement for the Clipper...  You will see them either in blue or deep red.  They have a few improvements over the Clipper...  the spine is "finished" and the blade is a little thicker.  I believe that they are available in SS only...  Good little knife all things considered... and you can't beat the price...

OBTW - they come VERY SHARP out of the box.

After reading some reviews I bought this one for deer

Mora Clipper in orange
(edit- I got the non serrated one)

I figured for the price I wouldn't care if it sucked, but I am very impressed.
Most reviewers said it would be very sharp from the factory, mine had one sharp area but was mostly mediocre.
I sharpened it with a Lansky at 20* to a nice edge.
I didnt use it to skin or gut, but I did use it to completely butcher one deer, and was impressed that when I finished the knife seemed every bit as sharp as when I started.

Maybe I'm used to shitty blades but this one held an edge better than any of the knives I usually use.

The 2000 and the 2010 have a larger tang than the cheaper ones.

Craftline Allround is the "new and improved Clipper"!  They are available at Ragnar's for $14  Definitely
worth the $2 price difference!

The only reason to consider a full tang version is if you plan to baton or pry using one - if not, the regular versions work just fine for a great price...  and if you are going to be prying and batoning, there are better choices than a Mora (it is not what they are good at)...  just sayin'...
